What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

1. What exactly do I want built or renovated? Be as specific as possible: Are you planning a kitchen remodel, new addition, garage conversion, bathroom upgrade, or full home renovation? Having a clear vision helps contractors understand the scope.

2. What’s my budget range? Even a ballpark figure gives your contractor something to work with. It helps us recommend materials, approaches, and design ideas that fit your financial comfort zone. And make sure it's a realistic budget so that the contractor is not wasting his personal time.

3. What is my ideal timeline for starting and finishing? Do you need this done by a certain season or event? Are you flexible if materials are delayed? Timelines affect planning and availability.

4. Do I have drawings, plans, or permits (if needed)? If not, are you open to working with a designer, architect, or structural engineer? We can help, but it’s good to know what you already have in place.

5. What are my must-haves vs. nice-to-haves? Separating essentials from wishlist items helps keep the project realistic if budget adjustments are needed later.

6. How will this affect my living situation? Will you be living in the home during construction? Should we plan for phases to minimize disruption, or will the space be vacant?

7. What styles, materials, or finishes do I like? Photos of inspiration, preferred brands, or examples of past projects you like can help us match your vision more quickly. Most importantly make sure you are serious about all the above aspects as not to waste Contractors time.
